River Park Series - Nothing gives me more joy than to walk the banks of the Cooks River and I find great inspiration in this area. Our part of the River which is abundant with wildlife particularly native Australian birds. I walk here daily. The river walk runs on both sides of the river and there are three large parks, a canoe club and a golf course. The river is partly lined with mangroves and native bush including bush tucker plants and a salt marsh. The river has a human past spanning at least 5000 years. The birdlife, trees, watery reflections, light through the branches all go to inform the mostly abstract painting I have been producing for the last few years.
In this instance, I have combined the abstract shapes and pictorial forms that have been collected through drawings and observations on my daily river walk to produce an allegory in praise of this place.
